WSOP Europe 2009 to Air on ESPN Starting January
People from all over the world have been eagerly awaiting the start of the new World Series of Poker Europe's television run. Not one to disappoint, ESPN has released their broadcast schedule for WSOP Europe events. It will start on January 31st and in total will feature 10 different episodes each of which will be one hour in length. The final nine hours will all air in the month of February and in total the ESPN coverage will show scenes from two tournaments that were played in the previous year.
The first of these two tournaments is the Caesar's Cup. This challenge was created specifically for broadcast on television and was played out in a way that is akin to the Ryder Cup in golf. Two teams were present, one representing the European continent and the other representing the American continent. Even though the latter team was by far the more decorated one in WSOP events, boasting over 40 bracelets between them, the European team pulled off a crushing victory stealing four of the matches played between them.
The first two of the ten episodes will be devoted to covering the showdowns that took place at the Caesar's Cup. The first episode will air on ESPN at 11 PM on January 31st and will be immediately followed at midnight February 1st by the second of the two episodes recounting the adventures of both teams during this live poker tournament.
The other eight episodes will deal with the WSOP Europe Main Event in its entirety, although as is natural for online poker tournaments only a selection of hands will be used to summarize the entire event. Although some of the episodes will be joined together, others will be on their own so viewers will need to be on their toes if they want to ensure that they get a chance to see all the episodes during their original air dates and times.
The first WSOP Europe Main Event episode will air on February 7th at 10 PM and the final episode will air on February 28th at 10 PM. All of the times listed for schedules in this article are correct in the Eastern Time Zone.
