WSOP Academy Announces Third Ladies-Only Event

The WSOP Academy Ladies Event had announced its return to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, come this June 5 and 6. It is the ladies event’s third successive year, teaching competitive poker from and for a women's perspective.

The WSOP Academy was launched in January 2007, as an answer to the widespread demand by lesser poker players to organize instruction/learning sessions from top players in the league. Against the normal method of learning the tricks of the trade from books, videos or internet websites, the WSOP Academy attempts to educate the upcoming players/novices through interpersonal contact, combined with hands-on instruction from professional players, behavioral experts, and celebrated media, all under the banner of the most prestigious set of poker tournaments in the world, so that the budding players and novices could learn the game in a realistic scenario rather than in a classroom environ.

Due to more women showing interest in poker these days, and the awareness that many might be intimidated by a mixed experience, the WSOP academy had decided to branch off to offer women players the same knowledge base as men poker players get, but in a setting tailor made for them, including some instruction relating mainly to the female demographic in the domain.

The WSOP Academy Ladies Event courseware is developed under the supervision of two-time WSOP bracelet winner Anne Duke, and supported by BLUFF Magazine contributor and tells expert Joe Navarro and Alex "The Insider" Outhred. The subject covers different aspects of the game of poker, including preflop strategy, postflop strategy, tells, and to be introduced in a year, a just-for-women segment giving women players clues as to how to level the playing field in a systematic manner. The course intendeds to prepare women players to play like a professional, no matter whether they are competing in women-only events, or rubbing shoulders with the best in a main event.

Besides offering a learning experience, the WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event also offers to its disciples, the opportunity to talk with some of the biggest names in the poker domain and compete in a private tournament, with the winner vying for a seat in the WSOP Main Event seat at the WSOP Tournament of Champions.
