WPT Venice up at Party Poker

Party Poker has long been known for having their ownership of the WPT front and center in all of the different satellite promotional tournament packages that they put together and today is no exception to that particular rule.

This time, it is the WPT Venice, a tournament that will be held in a city that has been at the top of the leaderboard for hosting WPT events for a very long time now. It is a great city for poker tournaments and that is probably why Party Poker has put together so many different satellite tournaments for this particular promotion.

In total, Party Poker is guaranteeing that at least 5 different prize packages will be made available for the event to be handed out in the five Sundays leading up to January 9th. Depending on player interest however, it is possible that more could be made available if the prize pools determine that to be the case.

As for the actual prize package, this year the WPT Venice package will be worth $7000. That starts with the buy-in for the event valued at $4600 and then continues with extra money for accommodations, hospitality and even $1000 that can be used as travel/spending money.

The pathway to one of these prize packages is undoubtedly an arduous one, but it is a journey that people make in the same way that they would attempt to qualify for any other similar event. It starts out with sub qualifiers and turbo super satellite tournaments held during the week, eventually getting to a final satellite qualification tournament that feeds 10% into the actual final where the prize packages are awarded. Overall, there will be hundreds of people vying for as few as five prize packages, but of course everyone remembers how in 2003 and 2004 people were able to parlay small entries into multi-million dollar prize pools from the World Series of Poker Main Event.

It is in that noble tradition that Party Poker holds their qualifiers for WPT events and the most recent one for Venice is just a continuation of that particular trend.
