Vanessa Rousso’s Lecture Series on Poker
Come Monday, Vanesa Rousso, the runner up in the 2009 National Heads-Up Poker Championship, and Team PokerStars Pro member, will compete in the Pompano Beach’s Isle Casino "Battle at the Beach." This stop is a prelude to her ‘Art of Poker’ seminar series that is set to begin on April 5, in casinos and racetracks throughout Florida, her home state. On her lecture tour, Rousso told Poker News Daily, "I was looking for a reason to come home to Florida for awhile! With all of the tournaments I've been playing lately, I've missed teaching - and the beach, for that matter!" She appeared at the Jacksonville Orange Park Kennel Club on Saturday and gave a lecture to a curious audience on game theory and the relevance of having a proper poker tournament strategy.
On strategy, Rousso stressed the importance of mastering strategy before hitting the tournament felts. In her interview to Poker Daily, she said “when you play a game of incomplete information like poker, any and all extra information you can acquire gives you an edge over your opponents. Constantly working on your game is the only way to stay ahead of the poker masses." Her much anticipated strategy lecture series will include discussions of how to obtain an information edge, reading micro expressions, spotting behavioral tells, diagnosing betting patterns and tells, characterizing players, developing a tournament game plan, and reviewing deception versus cooperative play.
On Saturday, March 28th, Vanesa Rousso will deliver a small lecture at the Palm Beach Kennel Club, and take part in an exclusive invitation-only tournament at the track. On April 5th, 11th, and 26th, the ‘Art of Poker’ seminar series will be held at Pompano Beach Isle Casino, Jacksonville Orange Park Kennel Club, and Palm Beach Kennel Club respectively. Registration fee for each seminar comes with a $399 price tag.

Her resume also boasts a seventh place showing in the WPT Southern Poker Championship, in Biloxi, and a place in the winner’s circle in a $5,000 buy-in preliminary tournament held during the Borgata Poker Open for nearly $300,000 in 2006.
