Tom Dwan Durrrr Challenge Goes Live

Players over the last few months at Full Tilt Poker are probably familiar with the Durrrr challenge. It is a challenge placed by Tom Dwan against Patrick Antonius during which the two must play 50,000 hands of poker against each other and see who comes out on top. Over the course of the first 20,000 hands or so, Dwan had a lead of around $700,000, although Antonius did have the earlier lead and therefore still seems like he could come back and take that deficit down at any moment. As both Dwan and Antonius have been heavily involved in WSOP gaming action, there has not been a whole lot of play going on in this particular challenge.

As soon as the Dwan vs. Antonius action has concluded however, Durrrr challenges will be taking place against Phil Ivey and David Benyamine. The Dwan vs. Ivey match is definitely going to draw even more spectators than the already impressive numbers that have come to Full Tilt Poker in order to see the matches between Dwan and Antonius.

Because these matches have been so popular, it should come as no surprise to anyone that Dwan has decided to take this challenge to the live turf as well. According to an article that was written about this prospect in the online arena, Dwan is going to face up to four different players in London in 60 days.

Unlike the absolutely crazy rules that dominate the online 50,000 hand match that is currently going on between Dwan and Antonius however, the matches in the live theatre will only be 500 hands long. The stakes are going to be quite high however, as the minimum buy-in for the match is expected to be in the half million dollar range. With blinds that are expected to be in the five hundred and one thousand range, one can expect the action to be fast and furious as Tom Dwan faces off against four of the best players in the world.

Who are those players going to be? At the moment that is unsure, but one can expect them to be household names within the poker industry.
