All over the world Poker Stars is hosting tournaments, the one coming up next being the Balkan Poker Festival. This is the finale in the Balkan Poker Tour and will take place in the city of Varna in Bulgaria at the Golden Sands Black Sea Resort. Overall, entry into the tournament would cost 990 Euros but Poker Stars has that covered in the satellite tournaments they are offering.

Players that live near Varna and would have no trouble getting there on their own for the tournament might prefer a seat only satellite tournament which has prizes that just cover the buy-in and nothing else. Other players however will want to go for the full luxury package which covers not only the buy-in, but also 230 Euros for travel and a stay for five nights at a Five Star Hotel called the Melia Grand Hermitage Hotel.

If this year’s tournament is anything like last year’s, it is expected that there will about 200 players attending the tournament. These players will each put up the buy-in through one method or another and everyone will get the chance to play for lots more because of the buy-in and the number of players. This year, the winner will even get a free prize package for the European Poker Tour Prague event, so there is a lot more up for grabs than there would be in any other tournament around the world with a similar buy-in amount.

The city of Varna, while not quite as spectacular as the Bulgarian capitol, is nevertheless an excellent city that will give people all kinds of opportunities for sightseeing if they happen to have the time. Players knocked out on the first day of the tournament taking place September 2nd to 5th for example will certainly appreciate getting the chance to use the rest of their time in Bulgaria to explore the city and see some of the sights available to tourists. Overall though, the tournament is respectable and the prize immense and that should definitely draw the attention of most poker players.
