Poker Stars and Fox Sports Continue Partnership
It has been arguably the most profitable partnership between a sports media website and an online poker site. It is also something that probably doesn’t sit too well with the competition because of how successful it has been over the years. Those two facts were likely paramount in the minds of executives at both Fox Sports and Poker Stars when the two decided to take their business relationship to the next level.
The six Poker Stars Dream Job prizes will be offered from the period of October 18th to November 22nd and it will only be available to players that hail from one of the following countries:
For the first time, Fox Sports will go from just talking about online poker to actually hosting online poker right on its website. The free play version of the Poker Stars online empire at http://www.pokerstars.net will now enjoy its own applet position right on the website at http://www.foxsports.com.
This partnership is expected to be a good draw for both sides. Fox Sports is trying to close the gap on ESPN for position of news media giant when it comes to the world of poker. Their hope is that their much publicized partnership with the largest online poker site in the world will allow them to get at least part of that done.
For their part, Poker Stars is always looking for new online poker players. They have 40 million different accounts registered and the vast majority of those people play the free games first before transitioning into real money play if they can afford it. With more of a general sports crowd over at Fox Sports, Poker Stars is hopeful that this partnership will give them the chance to draw many more people into the online poker fold.
Since it is a match that seems to work well with both sides, it is perhaps no surprise whatsoever that this deal was received well. Jim Bernard, VP Gaming at Fox Sports and Joe Versaci, PR representative for Poker Stars, both gave the deal their blessing. If it is anything like previous collaborations between the two (the Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge and the Poker Stars Big Game), there will be a lot of success to follow.
