Poker Stars adds to its line of unique promotions with the Fish and Chips Showdown

The Poker Stars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) has always been an interesting live poker tournament and for that reason there are so many different unique promotions available to get people involved. Poker Stars has taken that one step further this year however, coming up with a whole new live poker tournament to add to the Adventure.

It is called the Poker Stars Fish and Chips Showdown and it will take place on January 6th, running through to the 7th. The whole idea of this challenge is that people will need to fish at the same time that they are playing poker (or at least the two will be consecutive and very close to each other), with their joint abilities in both activities eventually determining their overall placement in the tournament rankings.

The day will start at 8am local time in the Bahamas on January 6th with players getting on the boats and heading out to fish. Players will need to purchase a license to fish in order to get in on the action, with all Marlin and Sailfish contributing towards the Billfish category count and all Wahoo, Dorado and Tuna counting towards the Fun Fish category. Fishing will take place until 1:30 in the afternoon at which point the catches will be weighed.

Players can then return to shore for the poker tournament starting at 5pm, with 1pm on the following day signaling the time when the final table will begin. Winners will be determined 33% based on their fishing catch and 67% based on their poker play. Regardless of who wins or loses, a winner’s party will go at 9pm on the 7th.

Players interested in getting in on the action can play the online satellite tournaments that are currently running at Poker Stars. These tournaments will have prize pools that may or may not include accommodations (the alternative being just the strict buy-in for the Showdown), but the prize should clearly be marked. Ultimately, it is the player’s responsibility to make sure that they play for the prize package they’d prefer to have.
