Poker Stars Running Qualifiers for 2010 Baltic Festival

In 2009, Poker Stars ran the Baltic Festival to the tune of 307 entrants and an overall prize pool worth €300,000. The festival was so successful that Poker Stars will be running it again this year from June 16th to June 19th and is expecting to beat last year’s rather impressive total this time around.

Not only will there be a main event buy-in that is up to €1500 from where it was at €1100 in 2009, but there are also introductory events that players can play in beforehand. These include a no limit hold ‘em tournament with a buy-in of €400 and a pot limit Omaha tournament with a buy-in of €250.

At the same time that all of these events are going on, Poker Stars will also have cash games going concurrently. These cash games will be open to anyone that wants to sit down at the table with the minimum buy-in so one can expect not only players that have been eliminated from tournament play, but also players not even in the tournament to get down and dirty in a lot of the side game action.

Because the event is taking place at the behest of Poker Stars, it is no surprise that the online poker site is going to be running qualifier satellite tournaments that players can use to get into the Main Event tournament for a lot less than the €1500 buy-in that is being asked for direct entry into the tournament.

Buy-ins for the satellite tournaments can be free, but there are also satellite tournaments that carry buy-ins of €1.10 and even higher but at the same time offer a much easier route to get to the final prize.

In this case, the final prize in question is of course a prize package including a seat at the Main Event of the 2010 Poker Stars Baltic Festival. In addition to that seat, the package comes with five nights booked at the Swissotle Hotel and Casino in Tallinn, Estonia where the tournament is being held. As an added benefit, players winning the package will also get an extra €350 to spend however they want.
