November Nine Finalized for 2010 Main Event

The World Series of Poker Main Event is the most anticipated poker tournament of the year. It is the tournament that crowns the world champion for the year and because of that there are many people that come from all over the world in order to play in the tournament. July 17th started with 27 players and after 18 hours of poker were played, the final table has now been set.

As has been the case with the two previous years, the November Nine are named as such because the final table will not be resolved until November. This is to leave anticipation high as the previous days are aired on ESPN, a move that did create a ratings boost in 2008 and therefore will be continued for the foreseeable future.

The chip leader going into the final table will be Jonathan Duhamel. Duhamel will carry a stack worth nearly 66 million into the first hand of the final table. He will be the large stack, but unlike previous tournaments he will not be the overwhelmingly large stack. The second largest stack of 46.25 million could do a lot of damage to him quickly and therefore Duhamel will not be able to be as much of a bully as some of the previous chip leaders that went into final table action with more than half of the chips in play.

That second stack belongs to John Dolan and well behind the two of them is Joseph Cheong with 23.5 million and the third largest stack. The short stack going into final table action will be Jason Senti who will enter play with just 7.6 million, not even 15% of what the chip leader at the table will have.

It seems as though every year there is a well known professional poker name to cheer for and in 2010 that name is definitely Michael Mizrachi. Known as The Grinder, Mizrachi is one of the most feared tournament players in the world and has also made splashes in televised cash games most notably on the second season of GSN’s High Stakes Poker.
