Montel Williams MS Foundation Throws Amazing Charity Poker Tournament

The Montel Williams MS Foundation hosted a one of a kind poker tournament and gala that was successful in every way. The party was held at the Ciprian’s Restaurant in Manhattan, New York last week and was a wonderful evening that was full of fun, excitement, and some of the best stars. The hostesses for the evening were Emme Aronson – a model – and Robin Givens – an actress.

The night began with a short video segment that explained to everyone in attendance what multiple sclerosis is and how they can help those who have been diagnosed with it. Those who were in attendance were treated to the buffet of delicious food, their choice of drinks at the bar, and of course the chance to listen and dance to some of the best music in New York City. While the food and dancing were a fun part of the party it was the poker tournament that attracted everyone and became the highlight of the evening. The tournament was hosted by Robert Daily and Montel Williams.

The poker tournament was one of the most exciting charity tournaments that we have seen in a long time. The game was host to some of the more professional poker players and some of the world’s top dignitaries from all around the world. In order to make sure that things run smoothly they had a professional tournament staff directly from Las Vegas come out and run things. The team included; Kyle Morris from TVPoker.com, Dianna Donofrio from Marketing DG Holdings/Public Relations, Kosta Trigazi, and Janis Sexton a very popular and respected tournament director.

Many of the poker professionals that showed up to play and give their support were Karina, Chip Jett, Mary Jones, Barbara Enright, Marsha Waggoner, Max Shapiro, Annie Duke, Russ Hamilton, Robert Williamson III, Jamie Gold, Freddie Deeb, Victor Ramdin, Susie Isaacs, and Scott Fischman.

The whole game was exciting and fun to watch with twists and turns around every corner. It was difficult to know exactly who would be making the final table and it was even a bit of a surprise to many of us. The final table was made up of six novice players and four professionals. The final table consisted of Beth Fischman, Barbara Enright, Karina Jett, and Jamie Gold’s girlfriend – Ashley. The chip stack started at 2000 – which made it a great way to play for all of the ladies.

The prizes that were to be given out to the final table were a compilation of buy-ins to the 2008 World Series Of Poker Event, a beautiful cut sapphire and a stunning black diamond necklace. Those weren’t the only prizes being given away. Amazing door prizes were being given out to the lucky chosen ones throughout the whole evening and goodie bags were given out to everyone who walked through the door. .

Montel Williams started the Montel Williams MS Foundation eight years ago when he told the public that he himself suffers from this disease. The foundation helps to provide research into newer and better treatments and helps to distribute drugs to those who need it. "It is my strongest desire to continue having fund raising events to support the research to finding a cure,” stated Montel. The next fundraiser will be held at the Golden Nugget Casino in Las Vegas on June 6th.
