Million Dollar Challenge Returning to Fox

The inaugural season of the Poker Stars Million Dollar Challenge was a huge success. The format saw a shocking upset as Mike Kosowski, a police officer that was on the scene immediately after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, beat Daniel Negreanu to secure himself a payday of $1 million.

The format for the Million Dollar Challenge will remain the same for season 2 of the show with players getting a chance to go up against one of a group of celebrities in the first round. The player will have Daniel Negreanu sitting at the table with them during that time, giving them advice on what to do and helping them beat the person sitting across the table from them.

The selection of celebrities will be changing for season 2. Brooke Burke from Dancing with the Stars will be there, as will John Elway of NFL fame. Barry Sanders of similar fame will also be one of the potential choices with 2007 Playboy Playmate of the Year Sara Jean Underwood bringing the group to four people. Last but certainly not least will be Gary Payton, a man that will undoubtedly be making it into the NBA Hall of Fame before too much time has passed by.

If the player is able to win that match, they will then get a chance to face off against a professional from Team Poker Stars such as Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein or Jason Mercier.

Players winning at that stage can take $25,000 away from the match, or they can face Daniel Negreanu with him having the upper hand in knowing their tendencies from having advised them for two rounds with $100,000 or nothing as the winnings from that game depending on whether they win or lose.

A win at that stage gets the player to the tournament of champions which in turn gives the winner a chance for another shot at Negreanu with $1 million on the line. Kosowski was able to make that work and earned himself not only a hefty paycheque but also poker immortality during the first season of one of the best-rated new poker programs ever.
