Dream Team Poker to Combine with Monday Night Football

Dream Team Poker, fresh off the success of hosting a tournament during the 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, is looking to expand their horizons while at the same time growing in a way that will allow them to slowly and surely establish their presence within the larger market of televised poker.

At least, that is what CEO Daniel Delshad seems to be saying continually in the talking points that he gives to the press.

In a sense, one can understand the desire of Delshad to grow this thing out slowly. Team poker is still a relatively new concept in the greater evolution of the game and for that reason building up the player base slowly and surely is probably the best strategy to employ.

That is exactly what Dream Team Poker has been doing, but now they are going to be combining with the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles to broadcast Monday Night Football at the Bike. This new television program will be combining with Monday Night Football in a way Delshad hopes will allow the program to grow quickly in popularity on the back of the already very popular Monday Night Football program.

As a marketing strategy, it is certainly an ingenious method for getting support together. At the same time, it also means that there will be no way to blame the timeslot or the marketing if the series should end up being a flop. If the series flops, the concept of team poker will be to blame and Delshad, while not saying that out loud, is certainly aware of what failure would mean in this particular situation.

That being said, there is really no reason for anyone to think that this series will fail. Dream Team Poker has been responsible for three tournaments so far and all of them have progressively gotten more popular. The event at the World Series of Poker had 122 teams enter for a total of 366 players and there is every indication that number will continue to grow as future tournaments start accepting events with team entries in them.
