Daniel Negreanu Aims to Play 36 WSOP Events in 2010

Of course, even Negreanu himself admits that the goal of 36 is probably one that is unattainable even at the same time that he has officially set that goal for himself.

In a recent blog entry written at Full Contact Poker, Negreanu set out what he refers to as a tentative rough draft schedule of what he will be doing during the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. With just over two months left to go before the festivities begin, now is as good a time as any to start thinking about what will happen.

According to Negreanu, he will be focusing on the $10,000 championship events, the player’s championship with the $50,000 buy-in and of course the $10,000 Main Event. Outside of those big ticket items, Negreanu will catch whatever poker action he can and if all goes according to plan he will be playing in 36 of the 57 different events that the WSOP will boast this year.

Of course, things are probably not going to plan. If Negreanu makes many deep runs into big ticket tournaments, he will likely not get to play in all of those events. His own estimate suggests that he will make it to around 26 of the 36 he currently has penciled in, but only time will tell what actually happens when the highest profile Team Poker Stars Pro starts hitting the felt in Las Vegas.

One of the biggest advantages that Negreanu has is his current residence in Las Vegas. Despite his Canadian beginnings Negreanu now lives in Sin City and therefore won’t have to worry about travel or accommodations and can focus fully on playing the events as they start and finish.

This is certainly a good thing for him as one of Negreanu’s stated goals for this year’s World Series of Poker is to win some more bracelets. Not happy with the four he currently has, Negreanu wants to add to that collection because he feels that he is at least a couple below where he should be. Despite profitable WSOP outings over the last few years, nothing short of bracelets primarily and Player of the Year honours secondarily will do this time for Kid Poker.
