Czech Republic and Slovakia to get Poker Tour
Sometime ago, we reported on the fact that Poker Stars was looking to get more play when it came to sponsoring live poker events happening outside of the United States. Well, it looks as though they have come up with the latest in that particular endeavor through the announcement of the Czech-Slovak Poker Tour. Also known as the CSPT for short, this particular tour will showcase many of the best players from that region playing in poker tournaments taking place in both the Czech and Slovakian Republics.
The CSPT has already seen its first event in 2009. That event was held in Prague and saw 122 players enter the field with a prize pool that was over 1.4 million in local currency. The tournament was eventually won by a man named Lukas Horak, who took home a price of 340,000 in local currency for his efforts.
As of right now, it is expected that there are going to be at least three different additional tournaments added to the CSPT for the first season of play. Those events have in fact already been scheduled and we are just waiting for the day to roll around.
The first of those tournaments is set to take place in Ostrava on September 24th with a buy-in of the same 13,000 that the Prague tournament required. This tournament will be over on the 27th and will feature at most a field of 153 players.
The second tournament will be in Brno and will take place starting on October 29th. It is expected to run through to the 1st of November and will also feature the same 13,000 buy-in that the previous two tournaments required. The maximum field at that tournament will also be 153 players.
Finally, the next tournament will take place in the beautiful city of Bratislava on December 10th. It will run through to the 13th and will require the same 13,000 buy-in of all of the previous tournaments. It is hoped that this anchor tournament will indeed be a larger one. Along those lines, tournament officials have raised the max for this particular tournament to 225 players.
