Countries Submit Rosters to World Team Poker

World Team Poker is an interesting concept that has been a long time coming in one form or another as teams of players from different countries will face off against each other in a Championship that will receive coverage even on some of the main sports networks such as Fox Sports.

As is the case with many of these types of events, the team that has the most known players is the team from the United States. Big name players like Erik Seidel, Doyle Brunson, Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Allen Cunningham, Mike Matusow, Annie Duke, Chris Ferguson and Jennifer Harman will be defending the honor of the home of the World Series of Poker Main Event, the premier poker tournament in the world.

Team Canada will also be present at this championship to provide a North American rivalry with its heavy-hitting neighbors to the south. The team will be Captained by Greg Mueller, a man that is no stranger to the professional poker circuit and a man that has managed to win two WSOP bracelets over the course of his poker career. Although they are missing some of their big names such as Daniel Negreanu and Brad Booth, this team will feature many impressive young players like Eric Cloutier, Shawn Buchanan and Kyle Wilson, all of whom would love nothing better than to take home the scalp of their American counterparts.

Of course, many other countries will be sending their own teams to the tournament with the idea of knocking both North American countries off the tournament completely and the great thing about poker is that all nations have enough depth to actually be able to pull it off. Hasan Habib will be playing with Pakistan, Carlos Mortensen will bring his WPT and WSOP experience to the head of Spain, Iran will have Antonio Esfandiari at its head and China will benefit from the experience of 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Johnny Chan.

With a field so diversely talented that there are still many other countries with great professionals yet to be mentioned, there is no question that World Team Poker will be an event for people from many nations to watch.
