According to Cake Poker, “What happens in Vegas is entirely up to you” and they have definitely put their money where their mouth is with the 2010 WSOP promotion that they currently have going.

The first part of the promotion is very similar to the previous years in the sense that you can play a super satellite tournament for $1 and go through four steps to get to the final satellite or you can play super satellite tournaments with buy-ins of $3 + $0.30 and $5 + $0.50 in order to go through two steps to get to the final satellite tournament. In both cases, it is the same final satellite tournament and the winner of that tournament will get a prize package for the 2010 WSOP that is worth $12,500.

Although that part is not really different from what went on in previous years, what happens once the prize package has been awarded is definitely completely different. The reason for this is that with that $12,500 prize package you get the $10,000 buy-in and the $2500 for additional expenses like travel and accommodation.

With the $10,000, you actually don’t have to buy into the Main Event. The Main Event does have the buy-in of $10,000, but if you win that prize package you’ll actually get the chance to put together any set of buy-ins that interest you and that also add up to $10,000. This means that you can play in two $5000 events, four $2500 events, ten $1000 events or any combination of events that will add up to the $10,000 of the prize package allocated to the buy-ins. You can also choose your own accommodations without being tied down to staying where Cake Poker wants you to stay.

Another very impressive aspect of this prize pool is that you don’t actually have to wear Cake Poker material when you are playing unless you choose to do so. This essentially means that you can play in multiple events at the 2010 WSOP and nobody actually has to know that you came from Cake Poker to do it. That is a level of flexibility that we have never before seen in the world of the online poker satellite tournament promotion for any live poker tournament let alone the World Series of Poker.
