In a move that is likely to play very well for the Bodog brand, it appears as though the Canadian Bodog experience is about to come true.

Keith McDonnell, the leader of Bodog Europe which owns the rights to Bodog.ca, was ecstatic in a press release that was given to the public as a way to celebrate the evolution of Bodog to eventually come to see Canadians as another market which could be entered. Up to the present moment in time, Bodog had been excluding Canadians from their services. Now, people from the second largest landmass in the world will finally be able to enjoy the games on Bodog in the same way that their partners to the south in the United States can.

In fact, the only really surprising aspect of this story is why it did not happen sooner. The fact of the matter is that Bodog has long been excluding Canadians from its services and that has been something that, while understandable at the start, had flummoxed the people in the industry as it dragged on.

Canada is certainly no stranger to the world of poker. Daniel Negreanu, a household name in the poker world, was born and raised in Toronto. Negreanu has won four bracelets at the World Series of Poker and continues to be one of the most ardent pro-Canada voices for the online poker industry. At the same time, others such as Evelyn Ng (a member of Team Bodog), Scott Montgomery (one of the people appearing at the final table of the 2008 World Series of Poker) and several other famous players have hailed from the nation of Canada.

Another reason that the delay in allowing this to happen is puzzling is that Canada has not really been the centre of much controversy when it comes to online gambling. In fact, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission is based in the province of Quebec and is responsible for the licensing of many of the online gambling operations that exist on the internet today.

Whatever the reason for the delay, most Canadian online gamblers are just glad that they now have a little bit of extra choice in the online gaming market. Several are even more excited that the choice is provided by a high quality establishment like Bodog.
