Cake Poker is a relatively new room launching in 2005. They are part of the Cake Network and are one of the few rooms online to date that offer a player reward program built and designed for players. The company is fully licensed and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, providing complete fair gaming and financial security. Players will find some great guaranteed tournaments that have frequent overlays, daily freerolls and the most current offer monthly freerolls with prize pools consisting of $100,000 each.
Cake Poker offers a 100% match up to $500 for all new players. Your bonus will be released in increments of $10 through regular game play. Cake Poker offers the best player rewards program available online. Players who enter any of the rooms real money ring games will earn Gold Cards which are as valuable as cash and can be redeemed for one of the room’s daily Gold card lotteries or used in combination with the weekly Gold Card Series Race. You will also earn Gold Chips through comp points. Gold Cards can be redeem at the Cake Poker online store or used to enter tournaments.
The competition at Cake Poker is still very loose due to the room’s maturity in the market. They are still on the lower end of the scale for traffic and have attracted plenty of novice players. On average you can find a view flop percentage in the 50%-55% range throughout most of the games up to $2/$4 NL.
Ring games are available in your standard selection with the current line up including Texas Holdem, Omaha, and Stud. Although Cake Poker offers Stud in their lobby menu these games have yet to be added to the actual listings. Players will find NL, L, PL along with tables formatted for heads up, full table and shorthanded. You will be able to find stakes starting at $0.10/$0.20 and climbing as high as $100/$200 although during this review we could not find any games above the $20/$40 level. Cake Poker takes a fixed rate of 5% up to $3 of rake from each pot with a no flop no drop rule.
Even though the room is considered on the small side of the industry this has not stopped them from offering players huge guaranteed payment tournament like the weekly $50,000 as well as daily GP’s. Players can make their way in with direct buyins or through some of the daily qualifiers and satellites. Currently Cake Poker is offering all players the chance to win some major cash in their “Million Dollar Series Freeroll” For the next 10 months; players will be playing in qualifiers or direct buyins for a monthly $100,000 freeroll where the winner is guaranteed a prize of $75,000. Cake Poker also sends their own share of players to the WSOP and Aussie Millions among other live events. Sit N Go’s are available with buyins as low $2, however if you are looking for a game during off peak hours you will have to wait longer than normal for the game to fill.
The software is functional with a clean interface. Players will be able to access in lobby stats which are clearly displayed within the menu. The lobby games are all categorized with tabs located at the top to help make game selection quick and simple. One of the features I do like is the news box which updates you of current games and how many players are registered. This is a great tool for finding one of the many overlays the room offers. As far as graphics are concerned the tables are displayed in full view with 3 dimensional characters. The graphics are clear and simple. Table statistics can be found within the chat box along with note taking. You will also be equipped with a replay feature to analysis your hands. Cake Poker updates their software on a frequent basis with very little downtime. They do still have the occasional lag however this is becoming less of a problem. All in all they offer a stable and reliable room with all the necessary functions that you would expect to see.
Support is available daily with email as the only available option. The support team is great and usually respond in less than 20 mins.
