There are several very important differences between playing poker live in a casino and playing poker online. The advice you get for the first will not help you when you play online because of these differences. Basically, in online poker you are playing against a computer with codes that base the players ‘moves on algorithms to win, not a live person who is using tact, misdirection, and bluffing to win. Because it is based on an algorithm, online poker is not truly random. Also with online poker being based on a computer strategy, it suffers from the same types of problems and hacking any other software can have. Several scandals have sullied the reputation for the online poker business. Staff, players, and even some of the poker sites had worked out systems to ensure frequent wins and the online system had no way to stop them. This caused the online casinos to come up with more security and different dealing, shuffling, and delivery for the online poker software.
One of the results from the scandals was the development of anti-collusion and anti-cheating software. Anti-collusion software monitors the number of times each player has won to ensure that one player is not winning too often. The software combats this problem by setting up apparent cheaters with what should be a winning hand, but that hand will lose. After so many wins in a row, the software automatically evaluates a player as cheating and will deal to stop them. Of course this does not take into account good players and may be a bad set up for an innocent player. This has the distinct disadvantage of discouraging players from winning too many hands at a time. If players do not have any incentive to keep playing because they will be set up for being successful, the game loses its appeal and point. Player who enjoy playing online can watch for the different limits of the websites and play around the restrictions.

Playing poker can be fun and engaging, but one of the mistakes beginners make is being cocky after a couple of lucky wins. There are the rare beginners who have a knack for the game, but they are a very rare exception. The safest and smartest way to play as a beginner is to know that you are bound to win a few and lose a few. Do not let it is swell your head or discourage you to much. You are still learning and it will take some time to really get good at it. When you begin playing, spend more time watching the more experienced players. Unless you have a really good hand, you should play it safe and fold when you do not have a solid hand to play. It is best to learn to bluff from watching experienced players before losing a lot of money under the assumption that you know what you are doing. You should also stick to lower stakes where you won’t feel too pressured to keep going when you are not confident in your hand.
Beginners are not the only ones who suffer from over confidence. Even more experienced players can either drink too much or win enough to feel invincible. Everyone will be dealt losing hands; the best strategy is too learn when your hand is so bad or you have already bluffed too much and need to sit a hand out. The more times you bluff, the more experience the other players will have at seeing how you strategy. They will start to get suspicious and start analyzing a player who always wins to try to pick up the tells of when that player is bluffing. Stay in too often and you are giving them more opportunity to analyze you since the odds are not in your favor to win every game. Realizing when you have such a lousy hand that you should fold and sit that round out will throw off the other players. They will see you know that you will not win every hand and are strong enough to know when you are dealt a losing hand, making it harder for them to gauge when you are lying.

A novice and very harmful mistake to make when playing poker is to stay in longer than is wise. Knowing your limits and the odds will give you a much better shot at being successful and walking away with more money than you started. A good player knows when a hand is not worth the attempt and will fold. This has the benefit of allowing the player to sit back with minimal loss and have some time to observe the other players. Be picky about what kind of hand you are willing to hold. It is very rare that you will get a sure bet in the first couple of rounds, so do not play high bets in the first few hands thinking you are going to double your money within the first half hour. It is more beneficial, wiser, and better play to be guarded about your bankroll in the first few rounds and spend more time observing your opponent, or in online poker looking for the player patterns.
There are several things of which online poker players need to be wary. The odds are much higher that you will see more face cards and aces in your hands. Do not let this give you a false sense of security in your hand. The other players probably have face cards and aces too. All too often players online will play as they would in a casino, and make high wagers based on having an ace, only to find that so do several of the other players. With an algorithm, you are not playing with anything like the same odds you get at a poker table. You will always need to be careful of timing and, at least at first, playing with a good hand. Keep you head, look for the pattern, use discipline, and watch your bankroll to win online.

There are many ways online poker is different from live poker. The computer can track wins to determine when the players or the house are cheating. This is a great way to discourage people from hacking into the system and to keep the house from being rigged. With the wonderful benefit of being able to play people from all over the country and in some cases the world, online poker has a distinct advantage for tournaments of offering a much wider variety of players. Both of these help to make the tournament atmosphere more enjoyable without having to leave your home. Like a game of home poker, you do not have to play poker for money when you play online.
Two of the most basic forms of poker are draw poker and stud poker. Draw poker deals cards out face down to players, then players have the opportunity to acquire new cards. Stud poker has a mix of face up and face down cards and players must play with the cards they are dealt.
When playing for money, gamblers must start with a minimum bet to join the round. If that player folds before the end of the game, that player is out of the game and loses any money played during the course of the game. After the first round, players start to raise the stakes. All players must meet the highest stake played to stay in the game, which means that when a player raises the stakes everyone must at least put in the same amount that player has raised to continue. Anyone can choose to raise the stakes during their turn in the round, and then all players must fold, match, or raise the last bid. When the stakes are not raised, all remaining players must show their hand to determine the winner. If only two players are left, a final round of wagering is done before determining the winner. If a player can drive all of the opponents to fold, that player automatically wins without having to show the winning hand, so only the winner knows if the game was won on a bluff or a really good hand.
Online poker is meant to provide a casino feel from the comfort of home. Players are initially assigned seats; however, they may switch if desired. A chat box appears when it is your turn to play, whether you have two players or a whole tournament.

Conditioned responses have been pretty heavily studied by science for years. It has taught researchers and scientists that many animals, even some of the more basic and considered less intelligent ones, can be conditioned to expect a certain result from an action. The less intelligent species are not able to interpret new actions or situations in the same way as the conditioned event. To make this connection, they must be conditioned to have that reaction. The animals only correlate the one specific even to the result they are conditioned to expect. Oddly enough, much of this applies to playing poker, specifically to the tells each player has and how the opponents interpret those tells.
It is very easy to get so wrapped up in a game that a player does not watch the other players. This is, however, a novice mistake. A good player will monitor the competition to see how they react to different hands they are dealt to better interpret how they handle a good hand from a bad hand. Most people will react differently, and unfortunately, rather predictably based on the hand they are dealt. Another mistake that most poker players make is to focus on just one tell for each player. Once a tell is recognized, the player will have a harder time determining or seeing another sign that could give away important information about another player. Like an animal conditioned to expect food at the ring of a bell that won’t expect the same result from any other sound, players have locked onto one single event or reaction and fail to see the correlation between other actions to the same outcome. Like the more advanced species, an outstanding poker player is able to make multiple connections for all of the opposition to different quirks, expressions, and reactions that give away vital information about what kind of cards they hold.

As more people become used to the cold calculation of odds used by online poker, some of the art of playing poker live gets lost. The psychological aspects that make the game more exciting, like bluffing and intimidation, and learning to judge other players’ body language are no longer needed when players sit in front of a computer. If you have been playing at a computer too long, or if you are a novice poker player, here are some tips to help improve your game when you play live.
Watch the other players to see what their tells are, or what they do that indicates they are bluffing. Some of the more common signs that a player is lying are facial twitches, restlessness with the hands, and fidgeting. Be warned. More experienced players are often able to imitate these tells to throw off other players. Also, don’t start attributing actions to bluffing until you have gauged that it isn’t an indication of excitement or just a nervous tick under pressure.
Live poker has three general categories of bluffing. The straight bluff is when a player pays out a lot of money to intimidate the other players. This is used to make opponents believe you have a really good hand when you don’t. Semi bluffing occurs when a player hopes to improve the hand they are dealt. With this type of bluff you have to have something that could turn into a really good hand after acquiring more cards; you have to have a foundation for a better hand. The slow play is like the straight bluff, but the player starts with a good hand and works to draw the other players into the game for higher stakes. In a slow play, you want to give the other players confidence that your hand is alright, but you are not sure that it will be good enough. Then when it comes time to play, you stun the group with an unbeatable hand.

Like most things, poker chips have different brands. There are the usual, plain chips generally made out of plastic that people use for informal poker matches; and there are fancier, more eye-catching chips that make players feel that they are back in the casino. The 100 Lucky Bee Nexgen Poker Chip Set is one such appealing set of poker chips. These chips have an appearance that looks remarkably similar to the chips used in casinos. With multi-colored design that is very reminiscent of the crowded casino hall and a clay-like surface, it is easy with these chips to feel a more professional atmosphere, even at more casual games.
The 100 Lucky Bee Nexgen Poker Chip Set are not only beautiful on the outside, they have a unique make up. The chips have a metallic interior, giving the chips the same sound when they clink on the table or against each other as you would get in a tournament or casino. This is a feature that most other brands and styles have not included. It may be a simple addition, but it enhances the feel created by the look on the coins to make the game more real and alive. The carrying case for this stunning set is also well conceived. The case allows for easy organization and makes losing the chips after play much more difficult. The case will ensure that all chips will be protected between games.
With such an outstanding set of chips, it is easy for everyone to own a more professional set of poker chips. You may not be able to match the wild atmosphere of a casino, but with the 100 Lucky Bee Nexgen Poker Chip Set, you will be able to hold a more professional type of match right in your own home. If you provide the players, the look, feel, and sound of the 100 Lucky Bee Nexgen Poker Chip Set will create the mood.

Poker is fun in casinos, but you will generally be playing with strangers. One of way to get the maximum amount of fun from poker is to have a poker party. If you are considering bringing the fun and excitement of poker into your home, there are several things to consider to make the gathering a success.
Plan the party and invite an appropriate number of people. If you want more of a casino feel, you will want to invite many people to have a similar atmosphere. You don’t have to stick to just friends and family on the invitation list; this may be a good chance to get to know people from work or your neighborhood. Let invitees know that they are welcome to invite friends and family to ensure a better turnout. Keep in mind that the turnout will help determine the type of poker since some games have a minimum number of players. You will want an estimated count to plan the night accordingly.
You don’t have to hire someone to make you house sparkle, but you should at least make it presentable before the party begins, especially in the areas where the game will be held or people out of the game can congregate. Likewise, make sure you have all of the right supplies to meet demand. You should have enough cards, poker chips, food, beverages, and space. To make them feel welcome and to show you have planned the event, use newer cards and, if possible, newer, more authentic poker chips to create a casino feel for your guests. You can purchase the standard party snacks for the evening, or you can make the food and drink more authentic to a casino atmosphere if you really want to impress the players. Make sure there is enough food and drink for everyone so that there is a place for people who either don’t want to play or want a break. Most importantly, remember that it is a party. Whether you are hosting or not, you need to have a good time too.

Extreme sports have risen in popularity over the past few years, and if you are considering a new activity, perhaps you should look into the first extreme sport: poker. It is a classic and conventional game that anyone can learn, and with its recent rise in popularity, you can find it in back rooms at the biggest casinos, or your buddy’s garage. In fact it is so popular that there are several sites on the internet that host online gambling for your entertainment.
If you are considering taking up poker, but have never played before, it might be wise for you to take lessons first. Though it is a simple game to understand, it is difficult to master, and having a solid understanding of the basics will assure that your online experience is not filled with frustrating losses. The basic breakdown of poker, however, is that players bet following a specific set of rules. Cards are distributed according to these rules as well, and players continue to bet based on the strength of their cards. The amount of deals and betting rounds are different depending on the type of poker game being played. In the end, obviously, whoever has the strongest hand wins the pot.
Each card has a rank, from deuce to Ace, making thirteen ranks in all, and there are four suits: Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, and Spades. Suits do not have a value in most cases. The strongest possible hand is known as a Royal Flush, which is the 10, J, Q, K, and A of all the same suit. The straight flush is secondary, which is the same principle with the highest card of the sequence being lower than an ace. Straight implies the cards in a sequence, while flush entails all the cards of the same suit. Lower ranking hands include the pair and trips. Combined, they make a full boat, which is also a substantial hand to beat.

High stakes poker was once an exclusive social activity, held in back rooms at casinos and the basement of privately owned building. With the recent mass media coverage of both the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, exposure has skyrocketed, resulting of course in explosive interest around the world. Since the initial WSOP switch to a single-elimination format in the 70’s, competitive poker has seen much evolution over the past decades. Moving to an online platform was not a welcomed notion at first, but new software and the developing poker community have both supported the constant growth and now online tournaments are a major component to the continued success of world class poker.
In an online poker tournament, the buy-ins can range from $1000-$5000 for beginners, and can reach over $10,000 in championship series’. Smaller qualifying tournaments hosted by satellite sites are a good way to get into a tourney without less initial investment. In fact, you will quite often find satellite tournament winners also at the final championship table as well.
For the casual players, online tournaments are also available. The World Series of Poker hosts its own small tournaments, as well as many other legitimate companies who run safe, secure businesses, offering authentic poker online to players across the globe. If you want to win money at an online poker, it is best to remember that even though some are free, it is real money at stake, sometimes as high as $400k! Just as in live poker, patience and strategy are the best ways to take the pot. However, what you might not know, is that you can gauge how good the winnings will be, and how reputable the site by the amount of members that consistently play there. The more members, the better the site, and the better the payout.
